Obligatory Snow Post

"I got the blues so bad, Clyde." We watched Bonnie & Clyde the other night. It gets better every time I see it.

Is there anyone who doesn't have the blues around now? We've barely been able to leave the house for the last five days. Until today we were pretty much stuck in the village and I felt myself feeling sad and empty, mostly because the good bakeries are all in the next village and fresh bread and pastries are what I live for. I thought of setting out on foot but figured it would end with Eric having to search for me and then stumbling onto a snowdrift and spotting a mittened hand clutching an icy baguette sticking out.

I did manage to take a very peaceful walk on Sunday when the sky cleared for an hour or two. I wanted to make sure one of our neighbors had enough to eat. I was happy to see that someone had brought provisions in for her.

Everyone gets a degree of depression this time of year due to the lack of light, Vitamin D (which is not really a vitamin but an amino acid) is supposed to help, a sun lamp can be substituted, although booze and/or hard narcotics work also.

Can one convert cow manure into some kind of narcotic substance? If not, I still have the whole library of Bordeaux wines to work my way through...it helps for sure! I saw two country types at the supermarket the other day, buying 3 brown plastic gallon jugs of the cheapest red wine. I thought they had the right idea, but then I realized they were wearing hunting attire and would soon be holding rifles.

I was very fed up with the snow and ice but finally it has melted and I can escape from glass mountain ...that is already helping with sad syndrome.
We were thinking of moving further south, but it doesnt look that much better down where you are!

It looks like you'd have to go far south as Toulouse for it to be warmer (and who can afford that) so you're better off up there Rosie! We want to go further west and slightly north, near the Atlantic they get less rain (and more oysters)

Mushrooms often grow on cow pies, the ones we used to give away at No Se No were right off the cow turds.
Also, opium poppies will grow anywhere (see Jim Hogshire's Opium For The Masses for instructions) and make a nice narcotic tea.

One of our friends around here is a mushroom expert - maybe this is the year to try it again (it's been a long time).
